Excel 2007 Crashing and Memory Issues

Excel 2007 Crashing and Memory Issues

Didn't find your answer?

I have been using excel 2007 for several months now and it crashes frequently or alternatively when it has been open for a few hours and I try and open a file, I get a message saying there is insufficient memory to open/display the file. I then have to shut down excel and re-open it, which is very frustrating.

I updated my Ram to over 1gb but it hasn't made any difference. Has anybody else had a similar problem and if so how did you solve it?

Thanks

Kath

PS is there anyway to create your own icons like you could in 2003 for macros etc?

hmmm....
I can see how that is annoying.

Have you tried reinstalling Excel itself? Did you do something (e.g. install a new program) just before this started?

I don't know of any malware (virus etc.) that could directly cause this crashing but, if your computer has picked up an infection, then that's what could be using up memory.

Have you looked at your Task Manager to see what running processes are using up the most memory when this happens?

You could try giving your computer a thorough spring clean from malware by downloading/installing and scanning with Superantispyware (free). get it here ....

There is also an excellent Excel forum that may be able to help on the macro issue .....

Post back and let us know how you get on. There are other things we can try.
