Question from our wages dept : -
Range d2:d8 has dates in date format eg 19-11-01 to 25-11-01 ; range e2:e8 has days of week Mon - Sun .
Presently being copied / pasted many times , looking for alternatives to copy / paste more quickly
Data has to be pasted in fixed range sequence eg D11,D20,D29 ie every 9th row .
Anyone know how ??

two things
Firstly you can remove the need for typing in days by making (say) e2 = d2 and formatting it using - format/cells/custom and enter ddd in the custom box. 19/11/01 would then appear as Mon. The whole of column e could be dealt with in this way. If you enter dddd in the custom box it will appear as Monday (Magic - Just love those custom formats).

As for block filling down simply highlight the seven cells d2 to d8, right click (hold down) and drag down as far as you want to go. Select copy cells from the menu that appears and the block will be repeated all the way down. Any block of cells can be copied in this way and it is a massively useful time saver.

Headings
You could make the text you want a heading (Page setup, sheet, rows to repeat at top) then adjust your page length to fit your data.
(Warning, this is untried and may be a load of tosh!)

Alternatively, this is a doddle in Access...

Alternative to copy & paste
Why do you need the header information every 9 lines?
If it is only so you can see the dates when entering data, the easiest thing to do is use the split function. Put your cursor in cell F2, click on Windows, then Split-the window is then split so that the headings stay at the top of the page.

If you need the headings to print at the top of each page, go to File, Page Set Up, Sheet- click on the right hand box next to 'Rows to repeat', then click on row number boxes 1 & 2, & press return. The headings will now print out at the top of each page.

Hope this helps
