have setup data/filter  so that they are on

is there a maximum excel limit to the number of rows which this data sort  works on  ??

i have  selected  a drop down column header, then looked for a  Known item - but it is not displayed

currently running circa 2500 rows of data

appreciate views. thx

Try re-filtering

Try removing the data filter, then adding it again.  The reason I say that is, if you have added data to the table then the original filter may not take into account all the data.

Another thing to look out for is blank rows.  The auto-filter might only filter down to the first blank row it finds.

Row limit on Data Filter

Morning

When using the Data Filter in Excel, only the first 1,000 unique records are shown.

For your example, if the 2,500 rows of data you have are all unique, you will only see the first 1,000 customer records.

However, you can still use "Custom" to search all records.

Trick

Some of the issues, like blank rows, can be avoided by highlighting the columns before applying the filter. The 1,000 distinct values limit can't be avoided, though.

What version are you on ?

......................... if you are on Excel 2007 you can the filter will display the first 10,000 records !
