how to format the text in red and blue when the figures are in -ve and +ve respectively?

how about the text?

But how about the words? when the figure is
-ve & shown in red in one column, i would like the text in the next column explained the figure also shown in red. Please guide me how to do it.

conditional formatting
From the format menu in excel 2000. You can specify the format to apply to a cell based on the content of another cell.

You need to go into...
Format, Cells, Number, Custom.

Then paste the following in to the custom box

[BLUE]#,##0.00;[RED]-#,##0.00

this will give blue if positive and red if negative. if you dont want decimal points then remove those. if you want any further help on this please let me know :o)
