Excel toolbars

Didn't find your answer?

Whenever I open an Excel file someone has sent me, (or today, even files I saved several months ago), the stupid 'reviewing' toolbar jumps onto my screen. I have never used this toolbar and I doubt I ever will, and I am forced to remove it each time as it takes up valuable screen space.

Can someone who is more of a whizzkid at Excel than me please help me as I want it NEVER to land on my screen again. I can't find a way to do this and it's driving me potty.

I'm using Excel 2002 SP3 on XP SP2, if this makes any difference.

Thanks in advance.

Toolbars
It sounds as though you may have an attached toolbar on the original workbook.

To check click on View\Toolbars\Customize and on the Toolbar tab click "Attach". Here you will see any attached toolbars and you may see the one you are referring to attached. if it is untick it and that should sort it out

'reviewing'
Hi Martin,
I've had the same problem. Tools / Customise / De-select / Reset worked for me and I've not seen it since !
Hope this helps, Rob

Thanks, but it doesn't work...
Or rather, it works until I open a file as mentioned above. It seems that recently saved files (last 2 or 3 months) don't cause this to happen, but when I open an older file or any file attached to an email, up it pops again.
