Failed CT600 submissions for year ends 30 April 2011 and later

Failed CT600 submissions for year ends 30 April...

Didn't find your answer?

I've tried submitting several CT600 for companies with year ends 30 April 2011 and later. I use Forbes software to submit all my tax returns.

I believe that it is not possible to submit such CT600's using HMRC's own online submission portall as they have not yet got round to reprogramming it to accept the new rate of corporation tax.

David Forbes tells me that this is the reason why my submissions fail - and I have no reason to doubt him.

Moreover, it appears that we will have to wait until around December 2011 until HMRC get their act together before these CT600's can be submitted.

One thing I do find strange is that I hve not yet heard anyone else mention this problem.

Am I the only one? I'd be interested to know that I'm not alone.

All software houses

No-one can file CT600s for companies with post March 31st 2011 ends, its an HMRC thing. That goes for all 3rd party software providers.

It's also very annoying!!

No submission for CT600 can be made before September/October tim

The FA has to receive Royal Assent and then HMRC update the website. You will receive rejections until October when the HMRC update goes through. In this day and age of compulsary online submissions, this has to change.

Reason for failure

As instructed I rang HMRC in respect of a 31 May 2011 year end.

I am informed that if there is no tax to pay, i.e. the return does not attempt to use the rates section, submission will work.

As I will need to file before the company can be wound up I hope this is accurate

File by paper

If necessary you can file by paper - I've filed a couple like that (one to close the company) and attached a covering letter pointing out that I couldn't file online because of their systems. Both were put on the system fine at their end.

It does need to be sorted, in this day and age there's no excuse.
