Heavy Handed HMRC Recovery Office

Heavy Handed HMRC Recovery Office

Didn't find your answer?

Further to my previous posting "Distraint Proceedings" We now have a situation with a client who presented us with a letter from the local recovery office stating that as he had not paid the amounts due for PAYE 2005/06 they demanded his attendance at a local Revenue office with his PAYE records so they could assess the amount due. This would be understandable except that the client ceased trading two years ago and still the Revenue have been isssuing P35's which have been returned as NIL. We have informed them on several occassions that he has ceased trading but they seem not to want to take notice.

I agree in part..
with Nicola, except I would be sending my very strongly worded letter of complaint direct to Varney, with my bill for my time, and a demand for compensation for my client for the distress caused!!!
