help re south africa

Didn't find your answer?

I have a client moving to South Africa. Their income is state pension plus about £6k other income in UK. I believe that possible treatments are filing a South African Individual form by linking up a with South African accountants, and bringing the income under SA tax system, in which case no tax will be paid in UK. Or file normal UK SA return and paying tax (or possibly reclaiming as some income taxed at source, and total income only just over personal allowance) as usual in the UK.

Are there any other options, and does anyone know which route is more preferable?

SA Accountant
Hi Dave,

I qualified in SA and practiced there from 1993 to mid-2005 before moving to the UK. We have quite a few UK ex-pats and it's actually quite easy to work out which option is best.

If you give me your e-mail I can send you the SA tax rates and exchange rates. You can run your numbers as a start... I'll give you the contact details of my ex-practice partner who can provide SA support.
