Helping the general practitioner

Didn't find your answer?

As a relatively new general practitioner, I occasionally come across small technical issues, or sometimes technical solutions that I might like a second opinion with.  Does anybody know of a telephone service that I could subscribe to and receive such support?

Tax or accountancy or both?

Hi

Aere you looking for tax technical advice or accounting advice - or both? I do the former for accountants who need tax technical advice (on an hourly rate in 5 minute units) from just checking their understanding of something they think they already know to complex tax planning - allowing you to give a service you might otherwise not have been able to provide. It depends what you want. If you want tehcincal accounting advice I can't help you but maybe someone else can suggest where you can get it. There are other threads on AWeb on tax helpline advice.

This one coves various options for getting tax assistance. There are free helpines with some services/subscriptions but as Rebecca says, you don't build up a relationship with the adviser as you would working with someone like her or me. Also, you may not even speak to the same person twice - even when calling back on the same query (so I'm told!). I also find that most of my clients prefer email advice - as they can make sure they get all the salient points down and can refer to my written response (instead of relying on their own scribbled notes) - but also have the option to call and discuss it if they want. Some helplines (especially the free ones, I believe) won't put replies in writing. Emails also mean you can send questions at unsociable hours (which many accountants seem to keep - especially at certain times of the year!) when the question is fresh in your mind.

It's horses for courses, really, depending on what you want.

I'm happy to give more information about what I do if you're interested. My contact details are below. Hope you find what you're looking for!
