Historic car / fuel tax rates

Historic car / fuel tax rates

Didn't find your answer?

I have been asked for car tax rates pre 87/88 and fuel rates pre 93/94. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I can provide some + try ICAEW Library
Being a hoarder, I have fuel and car benefit figures going back to 1988-89 which I can let you have if you provide some contact details. Someone may have tax tables going back even further than that.

It occurs to me that this is something the ICAEW Library might be able to help you with if you are a member. It is the sort of thing that is often published in books relating to Enquiries. Have you looked in the HMRC Manuals?

How far back do you need to go?

Please clarify
For the avoidance of doubt, are you talking about Vehicle Excise Duty (the amount paid to get a tax disc) or the tax on new vehicles?
Do you need the cost of petrol or diesel for those years or the amount of tax on the petrol/diesel?
Or do you need the benefit in kind amounts for company cars and company car fuel?
