HMRC online filing CT600

HMRC online filing CT600

Didn't find your answer?

Hi,

I have just tried to submit a set of company accounts to HMRC using their online filing system for the comps and CT600, but adding the accounts as an attachment in pdf. Accounts are for year end June 10.

They now have an error message and the guy at HMRC said he thinks it may have been around since June!

Anyone else come across this? And if so, what did you do?

Error message attached below:

X ERROR:If the period 'To' date is on or after 01/04/2010 and the date of submission is
on or after 01/04/2011, the Accounts must be submitted in InlineXBRL format.

Am very frustrated!

Sid

don't worry

It's because the revenues computer isn't ready to accept on-line submissions for periods ending after April10. Apparently it gets fixed around October time - if you are desperate to submit you can still do so on paper - or so Taxcalc tells me!

Loss

Company has made a loss so was hoping to put in early and get credit back against profits in prior year - better for cash flow.

Just really annoyed that there was no messsage prior to me putting it all through - waste of chargeable time!

Thanks for info!

I'm a little concerned too

When I tweeted this question earlier today, @GaryMc said it was just a date issue and nothing to worry about, it usually gets sorted out in October. [Update - more details available in our news item, Bug stops hybrid CT600 submissions]

The error message looked simple enough to me, but I seem to remember that Lord Carter and the software industry agreed on the principle that HMRC shouldn't make software live unless it has gone through adequate testing for a significant period before it enters the front line. This minor configuration glitch suggests to me that this is not the case...

And if you look back at the NAO Report on how PAYE coding errors grew into an insurmountable mountain (and subsequent political crisis), you'll appreciate the wisdom of my favourite saying: "To err is human, to really foul up you need a computer."

I hope HMRC sort this out asap.

PS - Gary Mc adds that HMRC has also posted a note on its CT service issues page that submissions will be rejected if the accounts are submitted in iXBRL and computations as a PDF or vice versa. As well as apologising, HMRC says the workaround is to submit both in the same format.
