How to account for discount on sales

My question is regarding a business selling directly to the public. If discount is offered on the sale as a promotion, is there a way this can be claimed as an expense for say marketing to claim tax relief?Would this be treated differently for a partnership of limited company? Thank you in advance.

That is correct can the £5 be claimed as an expense because it is a sort of marketing to increase sales.
