How do you get cell values to appear in different font colours dependent on certain criteria?

Having done spreadsheet with various IF formulae in terms of arriving at certain values, I was wondering if it was possible to then make the contents of those cells appear in different font colours or background dependent on whether the calculated value fell in a certain range or when compared against values in adjoining columns etc?

Hope someone can point me in general direction if this is possible or put me out of my misery if a non-starter!
