How to link a report in Excel worksheet?

How to link a report in Excel worksheet?

Didn't find your answer?

Hi all,

I have a problem here. I have a workbook of series of P&L for cost centre in each worksheet/tab. Now my manager wants me to create a worksheet for a specific account code with the amount breakdown in accordance to cost centre. He wants to see a link or formula in the new worksheet. So pivot table is out of question. May i know is there an alternative to link the old workbook to the new one? as i am not very good in excel formula and function, i would extremely grateful for all the input.

Thanks in advance for all the comments

Pivot several tabs is possible
Do a search on David Carter's tutorials on Aweb. I'm sure that he did one a few years ago.

That being said i may have misunderstood your query and leave it open to others to supply a better answer

Good Luck.

VLOOKUP?
I think you are saying that you need to create a new worksheet that lists a particular account code (e.g. Sales or A/c 4000) for each cost centre so it would look something like this:

SALES

COST CENTRE 1000 11,234.01
COST CENTRE 2000 10,267.99
COST CENTRE 3000 24,456.87
TOTAL 45,958.87

You can use VLOOKUP function to link the value cells to individual cost centre P&L's. Use Excel help or search google to find out how to use them.

Thanks Stevie
Hi Stevie,

Thanks for your reply. that is what i was trying to say. but personally i dont even know how to phrase it properly.

vlookup is one of the formulaes i know as most of the worksheet formulaes at my workplace are using sumif, if(iserror),vlookup, hlookup. However, I am just thinking whether there is a quicker way since i have about 73 cost centre. the current workbook is one cost centre for one worksheet for its P&L. so if using vlookup, i need to link one by one to each cost centre for twelve month period.

Do you have any suggestion for a quicker way to prepare it?

Thank again
