Intellectual Property / licence
Help. I 'm hoping to be directed here...
In summary a director of a new client company has invented new technologies that could be worth a fair few millions if the right investment can be found. He has decide (and wants) to licence his intellectual property to the company for £500,000 which would appear on the balance sheet under intangibles and thus create a large director's loan a/c from which he hopes to subsequently draw funds. When the business is making profit, of course. The R&D expenditure so far is around £100,000
My concerns are, can he do this and if he does, would he be deemed to have received this £500,000 and be taxed accordingly (even though no money has changed hands)
Thanks for any help or pointers.
