IR Computer System - P11d processing

IR Computer System - P11d processing

Didn't find your answer?

We received an letter from the Inland Revenue today opening an Enquiry into a client's Sch E tax return. There were just two simple questions, the first about pension contributions, the second was 'Please let me have a copy of the P11d for the year to check the benefit declared'

As I knew that the P11d had been sent to that same tax office in May 2000 I telephoned to ask why they couldn't use their own copy. I was told that the P11d's hadn't been processed yet and may not be processed until November.

The Revenue are therefore wasting our time and our clients money requesting copies of documents already in their possession simply because their own computer processing operation is inadequate! I have no complaint against the Inland Revenue's staff who themselves are extremely frustrated with the system that they are supposed to use to do their job.

A further problem caused by this delay will of course be that employees paye codings will not have been adjusted in accordance with increased or reduced benefits, eg private medical insurance,as noted on the P11d.
