Iris vs Keytime (or another)

Iris vs Keytime (or another)

Didn't find your answer?

IRIS - My Experience:

As an IRIS user for less than a year I find the product somewhat over-complicated to use (to the level of excessive frustrating detail) and over-priced. The networked starter package (200) version I purchased was a commercial joke. Whilst I had a licence to use IRIS over my office network, I alone or one staff member alone could use an element of the package at the same time. So, for example, if two of us wanted to use accountants production (on different clients)' it exceed the licence and was not possible. That, in my view is not a network version.

Time for change (even after the investment and less than one year)

Can anybody share my feelings about IRIS and what solutions they have found to move away from IRIS? Or, are there any ex IRIS user who have moved to keytime that can share their experience with the change?

By evaluation, Keytime looks promising and simple'

Iris isn't overpriced, I expect it just exceeds your requirements and you don't need all of its functions. If you are finding it too detailed then I imagine this is the case.

In that case it would probably be best to move to another program like Keytime or VT.

In order for more than one person to use the software at the same time you need to purchase more user licenses. This will be the same for every other software out there. A network version is just that, it works on a network, the number of licences required after that is a separate issue.

Iris vs Keytime...
I was in a similar position a couple of years back.

Opted for Keytime full suite as Iris had got too expensive.

I am delighted with the tax software but other than that wouldn't recommend them.

The accounts software and customer service are very poor.

I will be opting for VT accounts (http://www.vtsoftware.co.uk/) and Fast Tax (http://www.fasttax.co.uk/) when my contract with Keytime comes up for renewal.

Keytime
Dear James

I have always found the keytime support very good, can only comment from my own experience.

I use the Keytime Accountants Suite and feel it does a good job at a more economic rate than Iris.

The final accounts package could be a bit easier to use, but no more difficult than Iris Final Accounts I think.

VT Accounts is very good as you can produce excel based final accounts, and also export from VT Transactions into the self assessment pages on Keytime Objective Tax.

Had not heard of the tax software Nick suggests, seems very cheap, am unable to comment on the quality.

I would suggest you ask for a trial version and make your own opinion.

With all these firms always check the terms of the contract before you sign.

Best Wishes

John
