Land Purchase

Land Purchase

Didn't find your answer?

Company A is trying to buy some land but does not want his identity to be revealed to the seller of the land. He has asked company B to buy it on his behalf. Company B will invoice and be paid by company A in advance of the transaction. Company B will complete the purchase of the land and then transfer it to Company A. Having never dealt with any land transactions myself, my question is:

Does Company B need to make some sort of profit on this deal to avoid the Inland Revenue looking on it unfavourably, or is it OK to do this sort of deal on an at-cost basis?

A and B are close acquaintances, although the two companies they run are in no way associated with each other.
