Legal Action

Didn't find your answer?

I have a client who has owed over £1000 since January this year.

I intend to send her a statutory demand.

Does this have to be filed at the county court? I am pretty certain it does but want to clarify.

an easier way
Use the small claims court for this sum - £1,000 - costs about £60 and when you get judgement in your favour and they then don't pay you can use the baillifs.

statutory demands
I believe it's delivered to the customer, preferably by hand. They then have a fixed number of days to pay or respond & if they don't you then issue a winding-up or bankruptcy petition.
But you don't get priority over whatever money becomes available on winding up.

The threat of the statutory demand might work. What have you done so far to recover the money? I follow set procedures, if you email me I'll be happy to advise.
