Is anyone else having trouble with the on-line VAT return service?
I normally log in via the HMRC web site to complete my clients' returns, but today it does not show any of my clients. The help desk tells me I should be logging in through the Government Gateway, but I have never done this before and the guy could not tell me how to do it anyway.

You can log onto the goverment gateway using www.gateway.gov.uk and log in as usual as agent. You should see a list of all your clients there.
Make sure you use the correct login..
If you log in as your own business rather than as an agent then you will only see your own registration.

All of our clients are now registered for us to file on-line, so filing regularly. No probs at all-very fast.
However, as long as you're registered as an Agent for VAT on-line you enter on HMRC website, Practitioner Zone, VAT on-Line, then use your usual Agent ID & password (not your own business VAT on-line codes)& your list of clients should come up. Hope that helps.
