When logging onto the HMRC website as a practitioner I would like not to have to enter the full user ID. Is there any way my computer can remember the rest of the ID if I only enter say the first digit of the ID?
I used to be able to do this but then think the HMRC changed settings for security purposes - only myself uses the computer so it's a pain to have to enter the long user id each time I log on
Can anyone help please?

Depends on your browser
Firefox has the option to remember passwords - you can select on a site by site basis, so you can say no to sensitive sites such as banks, and yes to less sensitive ones.
No idea if IE has that facility as I only use it on troglodyte sites such as the FSA which insist on it.
Through IE
Saved passwords work on the HMRC site for me. Internet Explorer is set by default to save passwords but in case you need to do it manually go to:
Tools / Internet Options / Content / AutoComplete / Settings and select User names and passwords on forms check box.
