Main Residence Relief

Main Residence Relief

Didn't find your answer?

Is private residence relief for capital gains tax available in the following circumstances, and here I am thinking of the last 36 months in particular.
Son is 18 and living with parents. The year is 1966.
In 1993 parents gift the house to there son, and continue to live in it rent free.
Last parent died 2 years ago and house is now up sale.

Any responses greatly appreciated.

PPR
When did the son move out of the property. For PPR you have to live in the property as an 'owner'. Regards Peter

Not apparently, unless he lived there as well
I may have missed something, but what is the relevance of 1966?
