Mamut

Mamut

Didn't find your answer?

I have a client who uses Mamut (a Scandanavian so not for changing) for stock and sales and would like me to set up the rest of the system.

I have a demo copy of the software and find it difficult to locate the common functions I use like bank payments and receipts, bank reconciliation, VAT Returns, etc.

I cannot make it to Mamut's training courses which are only in London and wonder if there are there any readers of AW who can point me in the direction of help and advice on using this package.

Mamut

Thank you for your replies, gentlemen.

The response shows what I anticipated, there is almost no-one in UK using Mamut and I will not be able to gain advice and tips from a users forum, like Sage, VT, QuickBooks forums on AW.

My first impressions is that Mamut suffers from the same problem as Quickbooks, the unlamented MS Accounting and several other packages by being a overseas product adapted for the UK market and therefore is not user friendly for UK bookkeeping practices.

I am based in North Wiltshire if there is anyone local I can talk to.

Many thanks, YonderDave

Plenty of help out there

Hi there. if you would like to give me a call in the Mamut office or email me on [email protected] I can put you in touch with a range of resources that can help. We have a wide network of accountants and partners who are always happy to pass on advice and if you can't make it to our office for training you can make use of our online training courses or recorded training sessions. Failing that, I'll make someone available to talk you through the basics over the phone.

Mamut

Hi Yonder Dave,

I think the main difference between Mamut and any other book keeping package is that Mamut is so much more, and maybe therefore do not appear user friendly in the first instance. As soon as you have completed the set-up, it delivers a lot of both efficiencies and a lot of intelligence about your business. It becomes very easy to see what products/services do we make most money on, what customer type is most profitable, up to minute actual stock figures and value, conversion rates for prospect to lead to customer, and much more. After using the package for a short while, it becomes very clear how to use it and the feedback I have from my customers is that it is user friendly.

I am not in your area, but I will be very happy to assist you with the set-up of your client’s software by using webinar, of course free of charge.

I have implemented Mamut in many companies and they are all very happy users.

Let me know if you want me to get in touch.

Regards,

Ivar

Mamut

Thank you all for your help and advice, which I have been following up since.

I have been in touch with a local firm of accountants who are agents for Mamut but unfortunately the cost of having someone in for a day to set up the sytem and undertake some basic training is nealy as much as my client pays his own accountant for the annual accounts!

They also agreed that Mamut is designed around SOP, POP and CRM and Financials is not the strong point.

I have also obtained an evaluation copy and found most functions, although I have been unable to track down bank payments and receipts (i.e. payment of dividend, wages, charges and interest received, etc. I do hope they do not have to be entered as journals!). I have managed to find Assets listed in the COA but no reference to Fixed Assets or a Register in Help. And trying to print a TB has totally defeated me.

I notice that Mamut are currently offereing an Anniversary discount on online courses so I am following that up. Unfortunately I think I need 6 of them to cover the basic bookkeeping functions because, for example, setting up VAT is included in Creating a New Company course but producing the VAT Return is in the Reporting course.

Thanks again for the help.
