hiya
We have a part-time worker, and she is having a baby. she is our only employee. can we claim back all of the SMP from the HMRC? thanks a lot.

Yes, if she qualifies
I assume that you have checked out the various conditions and are sure that she qualifies for SMP. If not, the little learning tool on the HMRC free CD ROM is truly brilliant.

Once you know that she is entitled, sit back and relax. All of the SMP plus a bit extra (known as NIC compensation) is reclaimed. As you only have one employee you can claim funding to pay it out if you need to. Use the CD ROM for more help with all of this stuff. (If you can't find last year's, this year's is probably already on its way to you).
