Mature Students

Opinions and comments are very welcome on the above.

We are currently considering whether it maybe a worthwile venture for a 42 y.o. man to undertake an AAT studies (or similar) with the view to obtain part-time paid work.

The individual in question lacks formal qualifications but is not stupid, reasonable numerate and could apply himself as he previously completed a TEFL course and is currently on a GCSE course learning a difficult foreign language (that probably could not go beyond being a 'hobby' though). Another plus is that he has a 'nice' personality and probably reasonable amount of patience having looked after a young child for quite some time.

Prospects of obtaining practical experience (before obtaining reasonable wage/going self-employed) appear to be slim but we may be wrong. Please tell us if you have experience of similar scenarios or if you would like to share any thoughts about it.
