Migrating from Office 2000 to Office 2003

Migrating from Office 2000 to Office 2003

Didn't find your answer?

I have been using Office 2000 for may years now, and I have to say I'M very happy with it-and I'm fearful of the huge leap to the Office 2007(and definitely the dreaded Vista). Office 2003 seems to be the next best alternative and maybe I could use this till I retire-ha ha . Seriously have any of the team out there done this and how painful was it? I have searched "the any answers" and this thorny questions seems not to yet have been posted. The net seems to suggest that Office 2003 is the most popular but not by a huge margin. So whats yours experience PLEASE.

You will have 2 problems!
Hi Chris

You may encounter two problems.

1) MS have all but made Office 2003 unobtainable, at least via mainstream outlets. If anyone knows a good source I would love to know.

2) If you wish to be/remain legit, you will not be able to buy an OEM version unless you buy a new machine, so it will not be cheap! If you DO buy a new machine see 1 above!!!

Totally painless
As an IT graduate I feel that I can help. You dont sound to confident with change so in my opinion upgrade to Office 2003 which is exactly the same layout with some nice new touches.

You need to be pretty adventureous to goto 2007 so go for 2003 and dont worry you will be ok

Go for it!
I really like Office 2007! Yes there's a learning curve but its not too steep particulary for Word/Excel/Outlook & its a much better product in my view.

Of course, Office 2007 is happy to run in Windows XP - you don't need Vista if you don't want it!

Best of Luck

Painless
Fairly painless in my experience. Office 2007 is not quite so easy but not really a problem. Some of the file formats in 2007 are not backward compatible but MS do provide automatic convertors for 2000 and 20003 that are invisable. They are available on the MS web site. Regards Peter
