Monitor Resolution

Monitor Resolution

Didn't find your answer?

I know this isn't an accountancy question, but I'm hoping that someone can help me.
My monitor used to have a resolution of 1024x768, but since installing Broadband, the maximum I can achieve is 800x600. To get e-mails etc., I need 1024x768.
The computer (running NT4 SP6) has been built from scratch (not by me!) and I therefore do not know what the video driver is and whether this is the problem.
I am not particularly computer minded, so any simple advice would be appreciated.

Card and or driver
Richard
It sounds as if the video card and /or video driver needs upgrading. Look in the devices section of the system section and check it out with the video spec requirements for your monitor.

1024 x768

further to jay's posting or even befoer tryingit his way, go to Start, Settings, Control Panel, Devices. click on the + bside your Monitor to get its Properties. Depending on the version of windoews you are using, it should be able to auto detect your monitor and allow you change any settings. if you go to advanced settings it may even allow you try out the new setting withouth ahving to reboot. that gives you a 15 second view of the new setting. if you dont like it, it will go back to what it was. if you like it, accept it as the default.
Using Jay's method, you will normally only get 1024x768 if you are running True 24 bit color. A god idea is to drag the monitor settings icon to your taskbar, so you can click and change it at will without all the above palaver!
