Moving to monthly billing

I am about to put all my clients on monthly billing but several practical issues arise. All new clients are easy to arrange but for existing clients how should I go about it? If a client is, say, half way through a financial year do I calculate the next 18 months fees and spread that over a 12 month period? Any advice would be appreciated.
