Hi, i am a trainee accountant and i really need to get up to speed with excel. Can anyone recommend a good book for a crash course in Excel. Something that would suffice for basic all the way to high intermediate level?
Something that has a cd guide aswell and clear concise instructions.
Thankyou!
Derek

Check out ExcelZone!
Hi Derek,
We set up ExcelZone on AccountingWEB to cater for people like you, and have a pile of free material to get you started.
A good place to start is the ExcelZone Compendium, which collects more than 400 items on AccountingWEB, divided into 23 sections. The ExcelZone links page points you off to other sources out on the Net.
You can get fortnightly updates and links to new tutorials we publish by subscribing to our ExcelZone newswire.
Finally, if you are serious about the crash course, we still have Simon Hurst's Excel ProductivITy Kit module on the site. It costs £40, but includes five separate modules covering typical tasks accountants do with Excel.
Good luck on your voyage of discovery - and I hope you find what you need.

Have a look at

You can even do an exam in it if you feel that way inclined! And clearly a bargain at under £15.
Free Book.

Can't help with the book, but
I found the microsoft website really useful when I wanted to learn about pivot tables. There are various free online tutorials. Try this link...

Excel tutorial book
Try "Learn to use Office Tutorials Pack" obtainable from Amazon on line. This way you get the lot as well as just Excel!
Price well suitable for a student at £19.76 plus VAT & contains 6 CD's each for a separate module.
