New Practice

New Practice

Didn't find your answer?

I am a quailfied chartered accountant, through the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants.

I'm looking to set up a small practice to provide bookkeeping, accounts production and taxation services. (Hoping to get out of the rat race of the city and spend more time with the kids!)

Do I need to be registered with any professional body in the UK before I can do business?

What software is recommended?

Software...
I have found VT Transaction (bookkeeping), VT Accounts (Final Accounts) and Keytime (Business and Personal Tax) to be very good.

And cost efficient!

Registration
Hi

You wont need to register with a body in order to carry out the work of public practice, but your own professional body may require you to apply for their practising certificate. Also, you will need data protection registration and if you offer services on credit to individuals you may need a consumer credit licence.

Good luck!
I'd try PTP for your tax and accounts software - I think its one of the best availiable in its price range. SO easy to use.
