Newbie with ct600 submission problem!

Newbie with ct600 submission problem!

Didn't find your answer?

Hello

hope you dont mind a newbie leaping in with a question but I'm getting mighty frustrated and need a bit of guidance please!

I am trying to file my CT600 Corporation Tax Return online using the Adobe pdf. wotsit from hmrc

I have completed all sections etc but when I submit I receive this message:

The submission of this document has failed due to departmental specific business logic in the Body tag

Followed by a list of 3314 errors?

Does this mean there are errors in my figures?

I have emailed them but have just received the automated reply that someone will be in touch

Any help would be very greatfully received, thanks in advance!

Odd characters in free text

I recall having a similar problem a couple of months ago, although I think it was in the accounts figures rather than the CT600 Tax Return part.  I spoke to a very helpful (honestly he was) person at HMRC.

In the templates that you are completing there are various places in which you can enyter 'free text' - i.e. type what you like.  In these boxes you cannot have the following characters:

[ ] < > & - + ! £ $ % ^ \ * ¦ ¬ =  { } _ ; : @ ~ # ? `

I just went back through my whole submission and removed any of the above characters, it still took me 3 attempts (amazing how a £ or & symbol slip by).  Even stranger that in your notes to the accounts you cannot include a £ or & (e.g. Fixtures & Fittings won't work, it has to be Fixtures and Fittings).

Hope that helps

Same problem - not newbie!

I've had the same error messages as you today and have taken the same action - emailing the Online Services Helpline.

I have been using the pdf downloads to submit CT600s for several months with no problems whatsoever, and have not done anything different this time, so I suspect it is an HMRC problem.

They have launched their joint Companies House / HMRC service for submitting accounts in the last couple of weeks - I wonder if that has caused problems??

I will post again when I hear from HMRC - please will you do the same if you hear first?

Thanks

HMRC don't know the cause

HMRC phoned me this morning to say they don't know what is causing this problem and 'have no timescale' for when it will be resolved.

Thay will get back to me when they have an answer but in the meantime they are suggesting the following 'work arounds' if the Return is close to the final filing date.

1. submit on paper

2. try using third party software rather than the HMRC software

3. submit the Return without the online computation section - attach your own computation instead

4. download the pdf file again and start again (no guarantees that this will work)

At this stage the only option I might try is the last one. If I do I will post the results.

This error states that values of Fixed Assets have not been brought forward correctly in both the Trial Balances that have used to create the Comparative Accounts Reports.

This thread is 7 years old. The software the question refers to isn't even available any more. Did you mean to start a new thread or respond to a different query?
