No Sound Of Trumpets.......

No Sound Of Trumpets.......

Didn't find your answer?

No peal of bells
Greeted us, at the finish
No banners, or flags
They were not waved
No cries of rejoicing
Were present, not here
Simply the sound
Of silence, of an end

We do not hear the sound
Of trumpets, of singing
Our silent joy, it is here
It is enough, far more
Tired, as we gladly return
To our family, to friends
Comfort is the knowledge
We witnessed January's end

Rain danced in headlights
Endless days, our cold impatience
As we tread the underpass
Of winter's endless offering
Invading our lives, take comfort
You are guardian of this fact
There are other fools like me
Who chose a career in tax!

As I Remember It
January,
Sick and tired,
You've been hangin' on me,
You made me sad with your eyes,
Your telling me lies,
Oh no! Dont go!
January,
Dont be cold, dont be angry to me...
Sun, like a fire,
Sunny days far away,
English Summers are gone,
so long,
Gotta go up,
Gotta show up,
You've been chasing the world!
You've been chasing the world!

I also think Clive Griffiths' is plagiarized prose as well. That's my point. But the old pop hit January by Pilot surely sums up the crazy SA deadline of 31/01 for us all?

Thank you.
Thank you Clive that was great.

I haven't read or written poetry in far too long - you've reminded me what I am missing out on!

Happy end of January, all

Jenni :)

Loved it!
How wonderfully expressed. I would have liked to have said that I am sitting here surrounded by gifts bestowed by appreciative clients, deluged by letters of thanks, etc. No, but tomorrow I get my own back ....it's INVOICING DAY!!

Magic
Dickie, that was Magic.... well actually no, it was Pilot's follow-up single to Magic 1974/1975. Shame on you!
