Online filing incentive payment

Online filing incentive payment

Didn't find your answer?

Just wondering if anyone had had any feedback about the incentive payments for online filing yet? I seem to remember June/July being quoted.

July letter
We are filling out the full amount of tax and NI and advising clients to deduct the £250 from the total. Those who do not have a big enough liability to cover the incentive are suposed to receive a letter this month from HMRC asking them to claim the £250, which will be paid by cheque. What chance of that happening do you think?

Wrote on 13th May
I wrote to the Electronic Business Unit on 13th May claiming a refund of £250 for each of three clients of mine who have no PAYE/NI liabilities to deduct against.

Haven't heard a squeak from the Revenue!!! Chased up with the local office about it last week.

So what are people doing
Are you:
1) Completing the monthly/quarterly payslip with the correct amount of tax/ni due and then sending a cheque for £250 less than this.
2) Completing the payslip by entering £250 less tax than is due.
3) Completing the payslip by entering £250 less NI than is due.
4) Something else I haven't thought of.

£250 incentive
I understand that you complete the payslip with the correct PAYE/NI figures and send a cheque for £250 less than the total - this is as advised hy HMRC due to delays they are having caused by 'further testing' of their computer system!

If insufficient PAYE/NI is due then write to the Revenue requesting a repayment.

Isn't it wonderful that the government spend so much of our money on such magnificent software and hardware - and its a good job they make sure its all compatable with the other government departments when they buy it!

Slow going - incentive is still open
Last week I saw on the Employers area of HMRC's website that end year returns can still be filed online. Not only will there be no penalty but small firms will get the incentive. But I can see nothing to this effect in the practitioners area.
Suggests to me that HMRC are well behind schedule and that different standards are being applied depending on who submits the return. Neither of which should surprise us.
