Online payroll filing for NTR clients

A sole trader client set up a PAYE scheme to facilitate payments of CIS deductions he made from sub contractors.

We have been unable to file a P35 Employers Annual Return online and the HMRC online Helpdesk have told us that this is because the scheme has been set up in such a way that only paper P35's can be filed.

We have telephoned the HMRC Orderline who say they do not stock paper P35's and we have to date been unable to speak to anyone at HMRC who can help.

Does anyone have a contact at HMRC who can assist

No return needed

If he has no employees, only subcontractors, then a P35 is not needed.

He needs to notify HMRC that this is the case.  Nil returns cannot be filed online.

There is guidance on the website at this link

I agree that no P35 is legally required if there are no employees, but you can notify this online.

You certainly do not need to file a paper P35, if such a thing still exists.
