Recent disclosures by HMRC show the following -

National insurance records contain 120 million mistakes.

Tax credits OVERPAID by £2.27 billion.

Tax credits UNDERPAID by £310 million

"Irrecoverable" bad debts written off - £6.3 billion.

Uncollected debts - £26.1 billion

14 million people to receive tax demands going back 6 years.

Only yesterday we received 9 envelopes containing NINE different tax codes - all for the same person (whose only income is ONE private pension).

And these are the people who DARE to fine taxpayers for making errors ?
