Outsourcing

Outsourcing

Didn't find your answer?

I outsourced some work to India in 2004/05.

They want to move to scanning all documents. I am unconvinced that scanning works efficiently for books and irregular shaped invoices.

Any feedback of outsourcing via scanning gratefully received.

That's what low-cost labour is for.
Interns, highschool students, after-school jobs; scanning piles of docs is a perfect entry job for office work. Anyone who shines can be promoted; if you're a sole proprietor, you can provide excellent references and leads for their next job.

And this is supposed to save time?!

How is scanning lots of documents quicker than entering them into software yourself?

If you have lots of jobs like this I suggest you get your clients to do some book-keeping or get friendly with a local book-keeper and recommend their services.

If clients turn up at my office with a shoebox full of receipts I send them back home with a book-keeping template on excel!

Feeder Scanners
If you do a quick sort of the documents by size and make use of a feeder scanner the job should not take too long. There will, of course, be some items that are too small to feed but often these can be laid out on the scanning surface en masse to make the process less labour intensive.

The Shoebox/Carrier Bag Job
I would like to know how this type of job (which is still all too common) can be scanned - new technology or not.

The answer appears to be in the client's hands but as we've been presented with this type of job for more years than I care to remember without any noticeable improvement I hope someone (Dennis?) can come up with some new ideas/solutions.

Why?
Why are you unconvonced by today's scanning technology. It's in common use among practices that are going for electronic record keeping?

Also - if you're outsourcer is going that route then presumably they're looking to save on cost - get them to pass some of that on to you.

Ian, please visit here

There are a lot of videos that Hired Brains CEO uses to explain the process.

Here's one http://hiredbrains.net/outsourcing-financial-services/

Hired Brains has dealt with a lot of this scanning stuff and I suggest you contact this organisation and speak with the CEO Ameish Kapur
