Outsourcing HR and payroll - small company

One of my clients (staff approx 30 with turnover of 10 to 15 per year) wants all payroll and HR work dealt with off-site. Ideally he wishes to use one integrated organisation to run monthly payroll and deal with letters of appointment and other HR issues. The organisation he uses will need to be reliable and flexible and provide payroll outputs in the required formats which includes splitting director's time over different departments with a different split per director.

Can anyone recommend or suggest such an organisation? It may also suit someone with HR background who is also able to run a payroll.

Hi Angela

Thanks for that. Please only pass our details on if you don't have another practice (bookkeeper, accountant etc) that can handle this.

Although it is something we would be capable of, we do operate as wholesale and don't pursue dealing directly with clients... as that is something for our members to do.

If it is a service you were looking to 'subcontract' that would be more acceptable for us as we don't wish to compete with any of our members for clients.

I do apologise for any confusion, and if you don't find anyone else that may be capable please do let me know.

Some more options in IT Zone guide
Interesting challenge, Angela. Back in February I updated our IT Zone guide to payroll software and services which lists a number of HR/payroll outsourcers - but most of them are set up to cater for big, corporate clients. However, it might be worth checking to see if any of them will cater for someone of your client's size.

You could also work through some of the payroll bureaux and outsourcers we've listed to see if any also do the HR side or, like Kinetic, have relationships with a separate HR consultancy.

Good luck with your hunt - and perhaps you could report back to us. With online filing on the way, there may be other smaller companies that might be interested in this kind of service.

Chertsey base and HR element is very important
Thank you for your replies which I shall pass on.
Client is based in Chertsey and doesn't want just payroll services - the provider must be able to take on HR work as well and have a track record with small owner-managed businesses.
