PAYE-IRIS V4 ERROR CODE 6010-Does anyone know what this means?

HMRC strikes again
The error 6010 is generated by the HMRC system receiving your transmission. "Your Submission is not in the correct format", is not helpful at all..

What it actually means is that somewhere in your transmission file there is an error like some piece of data missing that should be there, or something that is there that shouldn't be. I don't know anything about Iris but I suspect you should have the latest version in place before transmitting as the requirements for the HMRC transmission files change each year.

The HMRC should return a breakdown of the problem (though not always). Talk to Iris to see if there is any more useful information saved somewhere, or to see if you should have the latest version in place before transmitting.

Wrong Version
I think you have to have the dreaded upgrade to Version 5, and then suffer all the grief the rest of us have to use internet filing.

I'm fairly sure your version will not file 2005-2006 returns online
