PAYE online for agents - viewing statements

PAYE online for agents - viewing statements

Didn't find your answer?

I cannot stress too strongly how frustrating I find the inability to view online a statement of the current position as recorded by IRAO of the payments made by a client employer on account of PAYE liabilities. For several years we have been able to view Corporation Tax statements of account and Self Assessment statements of account. Online PAYE services have been around now also for some considerable period but there seems to be nothing on the horizon to correct this.

There is no mention in the FAQ list of this omission or whether/when it is planned to be implemented, and yet it has to be a high priority and an issue of interest to employers and agents.

Perhaps I am missing something, and the facility is there if you look hard enough (or some announcement regarding this issue), but I cannot find it.

Feedback requesting PAYE statements
http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/comment/index.htm

Too right! Once the filing date was shortened from July 19th, the logistics mean another worry if timely statements are not sent by the Revenue. We used to have client's quarterly books in to check all PAYE had been paid or indeed overpaid. And who is to say which year the Revenue has allocated 12 payments too or if clients have used the correct payslip. No, the Revenue must issue immediate balances, if they want shortened filing deadlines. And why was the deadline shortened to May 19th - to facilitate Self Assessment, another great big burden that the Revenue were'nt ready for, nor introduced with 'customers' in mind.

In the paper PAYE system, if you filed early you'd get a statement before interest mounted up and you'd be assured that there were no monthly penalties. We need the same facility online. At least now the Return filed box is saying YES where appropriate.

Come on, lets petition for this directly in the Feedback box.

I entirely agree
I can also find no mention of being able to see the account. It would be so helpful at this time of year when submitting P35s to check what happened to last year's £250 incentive. They seem to have concentrated instead on replacing the previous system for online notification of PAYE codes, which worked well and did not need fixing, with the DPS which is, to put it mildly, awkward to use.

However, I must give them some credit. We have received notification of this year's £150 online filing incentive within a couple of weeks of filing the 2006/07 P35s and that is a vast improvement on last year.

Filing incentive
I can beat that.

I've had a £150 incentive notification without even filing!
