Pensioner

Pensioner

Didn't find your answer?

Our client, a director of a company, has a state pension as well as PAYE income and dividend income.

The pension for him and his wife comes to him for both and he does not know the split between the two. The Revenue are saying that he should be assesed for both of the amounts. Surely this can't be right?

Taxing joint pension
and while you await the Pensioon Service reply, how about looking at whether sharing the MCA would be beneficial? Or indeed whether he receives? If HMRC think she's younger than him........

pension age
the wife is presumably below 60 years of age.

Once she reaches 60 she will receive her share of the state pension seperately. Until then HMRC are correct to treat her share as a dependent as part of husbands income. Why are so many accountants ignorant of social security benefits?

The husband must have received a computation from the Pensions Service to show the make up of the weekly amounts due.
