Pensions Query

Didn't find your answer?

We have a client company who receives schedule A rents from a business park it owns plus income from investments.

Until recently the major source of income was the scheule A rents and as such i was confident the "close investment Holding Company" status within S13A ICTA 88 did'nt apply. However now the investment income on cash deposits just about mirrors the schedule A income (exactly in terms of balance sheet values and "nearly" when viewing the P&L) , i'm not so sure. So, my question is simply when does an investment company become a close investment holding company?

Also prior to ourselves being appointed the directors were told by their pensions advisor to stop paying company contributions into the directors pension funds on the basis that there was no CT deduction for the company since it wsa an investment company

Can anyone tell what the considerations are?
