Practical Training

Practical Training

Didn't find your answer?

Hi,

I'm a final level ACCA student. I've been working as an accouts assistant for the last couple of years but i want to obtain some more practical expiernce. I've come across a company called PTAP (Practical training in accounting and payroll) in the docklands. I'm considering using them to get some experience. Has anybody used them before... If so how was it.. would you recomend them?

Re PTAP
Hello

Yes i used them about 7 years ago.

I found that i was the only person in the class who was actually studying for a accounatncy qualification and looking for a move into practice.

The rest of the class members seemed to be there on some sort of government grant i think, not to sure.

The progress was slow due non accounting students.

The content of the course was just basic bookkeeping and ETB.

In my opinion it was not really helpful for working in practice and did not give any real experience.( As i am now FCCA sole practioner and i now know how it works in practice !)

It cost me a fortune as i had to travel from the North and stay in London for around 4 nights.

However the course may have changed by now.Maybe some other reader may wish to update?

If you want experience, i would recommend looking for a job in practice part time /evening or weekends. Work for free if you have to. Still beats paying for experience.

Hope this helps
