Hi all
I am ACCA qualified for the last 5 years (with my FCCA certificate to prove I am getting older!). I am also tax qualified. My problems revolves around the practising certificate I need to operate my own business. I set up about 2 years ago under the tax qualification but now am preparing accouints for people also (sign of the times - need to bring in the income!)
I did not realise that I wasn't supposed to be in practice without the PC - I know I know - but there you go.
When I qualified in 2004 I started work with a solicitor firm as a tax consultant. I spent a year with them then left. I then joined another company as a tax manager and after a year with them and getting nowhere I set up on my own.
Previous to qualification I worked with EY so have the experience from there.
BUT - will the work I did post qual count towards my PC - or am I going to have to get MORE experience with another firm now to get me signed off.
Its driving me cuckoo at this stage but I'm hoping SOMEONE can help me
Adrian

Phone ACCA
Phone the ACCA and ask the question
Without the proper certificate your PII is probably invalid
Other alternative is to merge with someone who does have a practising certificate and they can sign the accounts off. Not sure where in the country you are, but I'm in Surrey / Hampshire if you wanted to have a chat [email protected]
In Ireland
Hi - thanks for that
I'm in Ireland
I spoke to ACCA here and they basically said send the PCTR in and they would evaluate. Not helpful at all as to whether it would be accepted or not. I know also that both of the employers are not ACCA accredited. Even better!

You need to send in the paperwork to ACCA and see what happens. If your application is rejected then you will need to gain relevant experience and in the meantime pay someone to sign off all your work
