Products for Linux

Didn't find your answer?

I was just wondering whether anybody knew of an accounting package that runs on Linux servers - preferably with a Web front-end.

Hansa Financials on Linux
If you type into your browser the following IP and port, you can see for yourselves a linux server running a demo version of Hansa Financials over the web:-
212.53.85.152:1345
You will need to enter a login, lowercase ml but no password.
Of course, the interface is basic in the example but clearly demonstrates Hansa's capabilities.
We use Hansa on Linux over the web to run our business!

There are a few
Hansa and Accpac spring to mind, Neil - you can find contact details in our suppliers directory at:
https://www.accountingweb.co.uk/cgi-site/suppliers.cgi

Also suggest typing "linux" into the search box at top right of the screen - there are several product announcements on the site, plus an epic Any Answers thread where members raised the very real possibility of developing a Linux package as an AccountingWEB community project.

The support and liability issues frightened us off, but it was a wonderful theoretical concept while it lasted. Some of the partipants may have considered undertaking an open source accounting package project indpendently - you could post your question on the September thread and see if any of the participants respond. Good luck in your hunt.

Office\2
Neil,

John is correct in identifying Hansa as one.

At Softworld, we showcased Hansa's 'little brother' product called Office\2. It has much of the functionality of the larger Hansa (ie it operates across Linus, Apple and Windows, has currency and language functons, does all the normal SOP, POP, has a great transaction re-allocate transaction function, attach anything to anything function, etc, etc) but only costs in the hundreds - and has a 4 user limit

If you want to contact us, please do

Kind regards
