Python for Windows and Excel

Didn't find your answer?

Is anybody [else] using Python (ie Pythonwin 2.2 for Windows)for analysis ?

I find this free software incredibly useful for cleaning up "print to file" reports out of legacy mainframe systems before importing into Excel (the latter is very limited when it comes to eg "Regular Expressions" capability).

I am interested in hooking-up with like-minded people who are using it in conjunction with Excel VBA. Especially anyone who has been able to put a "wrapper" round this so that Python's "regex" power can be used directly in Excel spreadsheets.

This all sounds very IT-ish but actually it is very accessible to anyone who has learnt Excel VBA, and has already saved me a ton of time.

Bob,

Thanks for the comment. I know about Perl but I prefer Python - which I think offers the same power as Perl, but which is designed for mere mortals.

If you're thinking of using it then get in touch.
