A3 colour laser printer

A3 colour laser printer

Didn't find your answer?

I'm interested in the HP Color LaserJet Professional CP5225n because of the A3 paper size. My wife would like to print designs and I would like to print large spreadsheets occasionally.

Anybody can think of problems other than the cost of toner?

I haven't had much luck with colour lasers

They always seem to go faulty. I've had 2 Samsung & 1 Brother (all A4), and the cost of repairing them is more than the cost of the printer.

EDIT: just realised, you are referring to an inkjet. I have a Brother A3 inkjet printer/scanner/copier, but they are a nuisance for the inkjets drying out unless you use them very frequently.

Inkjet?

It's not an inkjet it's a laser.

The first laser I got was a Epson which needed a drum replacement a few days after the one year warranty. The person I took it to for repair advised that HP are the best and I've always got HP since then and I've been very happy with them - although I understand that they don't spend as much on R & D as they used to.

HP 8600 Plus
It's inkjet (sorry) but a great printer nevertheless. The ink is really cheap too (even the original stuff).

I think it retails around £150 too..I am 18 months into ownership and it has been excellent.

I think it does A3 but the things I do know it does are double sided ADF scanner, double sided print, colour, flatbed, capable of multiple tray feeds.

A4 laser printers are usually pretty big foot print wise so an A3 one will be massive?

It is ...

@ £1000 and £700 to re-fill!

If you want quality I would go with the Epson C9300 for @ £1500. Similar size toners are around the same price, but you can get high capacity ones which will give you 100% more for only 50% more cost, so a couple of refills will have repaid the £500 extra.

By the way, I know a really good printer repair guy covering London and Surrey, reasonable cost and really good. If any one wants to know the details pm me.

Size

HP Color LaserJet Professional CP5225n:

54.5 cm wide

59.9 cm deep

33.8 cm high

My present HP Color Laserjet 2605dn:

40.7 cm wide

41.2 cm deep

37.0 cm

My wife's present HP Color Laserjet 1600dn is about the same size as mine.

The A3 print is about 50% more width and depth.

The Epson is ...

... 50.0 x 53.8 x 42.2, so smaller footprint, 25% taller than CP5225n

The Epson is 50% faster though (30ppm rather than 20) and has a much higher paper capacity (2055 sheets with additional paper cassettes, HP has 850 with additional cassettes)

However, standard is Epson 250, HP only 100.

You would want additional cassettes so you could have one with A3 and one with A4 I presume - this will increase the height.

Avoid Lexmark

I've got a Lexmark C522 A4 colour laser printer ... got it due to half price offer many years ago, but it is monstrously huge and horrendously expensive to run, and it only makes sense to use a laser printer if you use it a lot on a daily basis ... otherwise the amount of toner wasted each time it starts up begins to make it hugely expensive if you just print out the odd sheet every couple of days ... quality of print-out from Lexmark's in general is very good, mine being excellent, but I now hardly ever use it due to the massive cost of consumables. Would never recommend a Lexmark laser printer to anybody unless they do a lot of printing on a daily basis.

What we have found is

that although we have an a3 laser printer it is rarely used for this size.  The paper could be one of your problems.

because the paper is used infrequently it gets damp or dries up and does not pass through the machine without "jamming"..  Consequently all our a3 printing is done at the local print shop.

As to machine we use a Cannon, whether Hp is better ior worse I could not say.  THe last HP we had was a multi function and the software badly screwed up the PC's operating system.

Hello,

No Doubt, HP is best but one thing is really very irritating which you also mentioned. Otherwise, It is simply the best at the current time. Though there are many competetors but HP has its Good will and worth. I and my wife often use HP for A4 and Legal papers for having a perfect canvas frames for my site

What To Try?

Hi,

May I know what exactly she wants to print out? If she is using for the sake of high quality and good print then she ought to use inkjet canvas rolls
