ACCA practice certificates

ACCA practice certificates

Didn't find your answer?

I am shortly to apply for a practicing certificate. I will be mainly requiring it for my employment (hopefully soon to be directorship in a Ltd Co). However I will also be doing a small amount of work as a self employed practitioner, mainly for friends and family. Does a practicing certificate cover any work, regardless of who I do it for, or do I need separate ones?

Do you need ...

an ACCA practising certificate to be an employee?

Seems odd but the thought just occurred.

?

You are letting your employers use your practising certificate?

Yes you can use it for more than one things, you have to put it on the form, along with your PI details

Practising Certificates

You don't need an ACCA Practising Certificate if you are just an employee.

However, you would require one when you accept an appointment as a director in an accounting practice.

If you intend to be paid for the self employed work that you propose to do for friends and relatives then that would another reason for requiring a Practising Certificate.  It used to be the case that if you were doing those services for free then you didn't require a PC just for that, although you had better check this with ACCA if this is relevant to you, as the rules may have changed.

I don't know whether you pay extra fees to ACCA for being a director of an accounting and having a self employed business.  Again, this is something you should clarify with ACCA.

Setting up a new Accountancy Practice

I dont have any qualification but lots of experience and been thinking of setting up my company.

What papers /insurance etc do I need, I know people who done very well without official qualification but not sure how to go about it myself.

2 months into my dream job my company was bought over from someone outside London and I am made redundant - any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you
