A client of mine got involved in a tax scheme many years ago (not on our advice) and has been told to expect an accelerated payment notice. He is about to go travelling for several months and has asked us to keep an eye out for this arriving. I have not actually had a client who has received one before, so I wondered whether anyone knew whether copies are issued to agents or not? We have a 64-8 and usually get copies of correspondence, although the investigation into the scheme is being handled by the promoters not us.
I am worried that if we don't get a copy, he will come back to a pile of increasingly irate letters from HMRC sitting on his doormat.
