Accountants moving office

Accountants moving office

Didn't find your answer?

Last time we moved offices (about 5 years ago) we had to write to the Agent Maintainer and get our address updated that way.

Surely in this day and age there is a way of updating our details online?  Otherwise it will take weeks before it gets actioned.

Agent Maintainer

Send Agent Maintainer a letter. They do SA & CT for all clients fairly quickly & easily. For PAYE you need to include a list of clients & their Employer's reference.

Anyone with Reg Office at your address update via Companies House & their CT record get updated remarkably quickly.

I fear not - I merged with another firm in February and wrote to request transfer of my clients to my new firm and waited so long to hear back from HMRC that I gave up and started requesting brand new online authorisations. Then HMRC woke up and moved SA and CT last weekend, so it took them three months, which is terrible service.

The lady who phoned me last week to tell me that the transfer is going ahead explained that there is no facility built into HMRC software to transfer PAYE clients between agents so nothing has happened yet for that tax and I was given a number to phone for VAT which is just a general helpline which I haven't yet had the patience to hold on long enough yet to speak to someone.

A colleague moved addresses 18 months ago and has been unable to update his agent address with the PAYE section so post is still going to his old address. I hope the OP fares better.

So this is another area where HMRC are giving agents poor service, add it to the list which gets longer all the time.

Tim
