Accounting for dividends help

Hi I work in industry and we pay certain employees dividends each month. it is now the year end and i am slightly confused as in the P&L  we hve the dividends we have paid out but not accounting for the gross figure anywhere, is this right?

i always thought dividends were accounted for in the balance sheet not the P&L
